BRITBOX
—
DELTATRE, BBC, ITV
An online digital video subscription service (SVOD) with +500.000 subscribers
TASK
I joined Deltatre to help with their biggest client in the UK, a brand new SVOD service for BBC and ITV. BritBox at the time had +500.000 subscriber base in the UK and now tops 4 million and is growing. At the beginning of 2019 the service was launched based on Deltatre's own Axis platform.
I was responsible for adding a plethora of new features to improve the service to be competitive in the booming SVOD market. This included working on 9 different platforms simultaneously (Responsive Web, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Connected TVs and consoles, iOS, Android, Chromecast, YouView, Roku)
One of the biggest challenges was a new recommendation engine supported by machine learning. These changes affected the robust back-end systems and dashboards.
Execution
The two UX designers on this project work with a +60 sized development teams in a dual-agile setup that we adopted at the beginning of the year.
We put a great emphasis on user testing, which is a bi-weekly occurrence. We use UserZoom as a primary user testing tool, but we often reach out to our cutomer support teams to dig deeper to uncover the core problems.
TOOLS USED
